Gratitude and Hope

POEM

SEASONS OF GRATITUDE AND HOPE
by Dr. Kanwalpreet

Four seasons in a year,
Each with its own light,
Follow each other,
In rapid succession,
Each season has a regular pattern,
The shrugging of leaves,
In autumn, by trees,
The flash of greenery,
Rejuvenates and refreshes,
 In the spring,
It is the seasons of life,
It is the seasons in life,
That can be painful,
Which are usually unpredictable,
Having a habit of being unpredictable,
Autumn is not followed by Spring all the time,
It can be followed by long cold winters,
Autumn, followed by winters!
Can make life an arduous journey,
Winter season followed by summers!
Imagine the cold harsh winds,
Followed by the hot, cruel currents,
Both sap away strength,
And exhaust the joy of living.
The seasons of God,
Are there for a reason,
The seasons of life,
I am sure,
Are also there for a reason,
For I trust my Maker,
But how do I deal
With the unending winters of sorrow
That send a chill down my spine?
The autumn of hollowness,
Of relationships devoid of love,
Compassion and sympathy,
Leave me numb,
But the beauty of humans,
Though hardened with pain,
And waves of fury,
Is that glimmer of hope,
And better tidings,
By peeping into the seasons of the future,
It is Spring for what humans aspire,
It is pleasant summer evenings,
 That they desire,
Friendly seasons: Full of love,
Gratitude, piety and happiness,
Make life worth living,
The beauty of relationships,
The ties that bind,
Wipe away those desolate seasons,
Winter as well as autumn,
Leaving one waiting,
Pining and expecting,
For the summer and spring,
To add that spring in one’s life.
