End-of-the-Year Magic

Yes, it’s that time again!

Another year drawing to a close. Visions of snow outside, a warm crackling fire, decorated Christmas trees and notepads trying to ink the new year resolutions that can be kept.

All that does seem magical if you don’t let your brain wander towards the reality of frozen fingers on a computer keyboard and feet that refuse to climb out of the warm blanket and trudge to the kitchen to get breakfast for a growling stomach.

Sigh. All part of the magic. But to be honest, there’s something beautiful about this time even though I hate winters and endings are not really my favourite things. Perhaps it is not about endings anyway. It is about all the things accomplished between many failures, the small victories won against big odds that need to be celebrated because we totally deserve it!

So, what did you gain? Tell me about your happy moments and we will celebrate them together. Nothing like a pat on the back to make your eyes shine with delight!

The year that was... 2023 coming to an end

Here, I will go first. Among the many posts left unwritten, what got done right on time was the e-magazine LITeZINE! There was this shaky, hesitant and unsure me who published the first issue last year, wondering if I could make it work. Today, I celebrate the 4th volume, into the second year of publication and happy authors and delighted readers growing with every issue.

From the bottom of my heart…

Thank you, each one of you who made it possible with your support and trust.

And a very special thanks to Khaya Ronkainen who has been the backbone of this journey. This would not have been possible without her.

Together, we rise!

I also celebrate that I have learned to stop feeling guilty for not being everywhere all at once and running myself into the ground. The demands of publishing the mag forced me to accept that I have to keep going off the grid periodically to get the mag published and keep coming back to my online home, my lovely friends and my writing to soothe my frayed and overwhelmed feathers after publication.

Cheers to the lesson that we can have it all if we don’t try to have all of it at once!

It feels a little weird to be coming back when most others are going offline for the holidays, but then, I never pretend to be anything other than weird.

A sane writer is a fictional being.

I think that would be my sentence of the year! I have embraced my insanity and I am almost proud of it. Well, maybe a little more than almost 😉

Now, your turn. What finally came right for you? What do you hope to do better next year? Let’s unload, and bare our hearts today… mmmm, I can taste the awesomeness of floating, light as air…

Let’s celebrate endings because they lead to new beginnings.

Write back. I am waiting to hear from you…
