I am Canadian
Summer is in short supply
She is always darting toward darkness
Shorter days
Colder days
But, when summer is here
She does not whisper
She screams
With blazing sun
And explosions of green
Summer also does not whisper when she departs
She says nothing
The wind speaks for her
The rain
The cold
Summer does not announce her retreat
She just leaves
And we’re left
With the rain
The cold
Anxiously awaiting her brief return
