SHORT POEM

ROAD TO RECOVERY
Short Poem by Sirleaf Sirleaf

A man walking the road with hope
AI-Generated Image
I walked a path filled with darkness,
Lost in a wild storm, I could not see,
And I dreamed of love and brightness,
Hoping for someone to set me free.

My soul was broken, I was a wild child,
I searched for peace I could not find.
Cried for days, wondering if I’d ever smile
The world was so cruel, its kindness a lie.

A lonely addict, I was friends with pills
Couldn’t even sleep without a smoke
I chased false highs, ignoring all the ills
My life was a mess, an endless joke

Now my body’s weak, and I feel tired,
It hurts to see pain in the ones I love
I’m trapped in a circle I never desired
I pray for help and guidance from above

I want to stop and fight for my life
To find my way back to the light.
To build a future for my kids and wife
To heal my soul and make things right

When every step felt hard to take,
In the dark, I heard a tiny voice
“Rise up again, break these chains.”
It called me forward, gave me a choice

So here I stand, torn apart,
Searching for peace and a new start.
The road is long, but hope beckons me,
I’ll walk it alone till I am free.
