SHORT POEM
WHERE I AM FROM
Short Poem by Fizza Shuaib

I’m from the big yard with tall, whispering trees,
from fresh air and the laughter of children playing free.
I’m from evenings woven with thoughts,
family stories, warm discussions, and endless laughs.
I’m from the meals we shared around the table,
homemade and delicious, carrying the taste of love.
I’m from the streets washed clean by the rain,
drenched walls, flooded roads, and the scent of earth born again.
I’m from little successes treasured like gems,
and joyful birthday candles celebrating happiness.
I’m from morning walks with grandparents,
family gatherings, curious minds and endless jokes,
those stories that became lessons of love
laughter echoing in the air like happy musical notes.
I’m from prayers rising at dawn,
fasting days and festival nights,
from the shop where my healer father handed out,
bottles of hope, cure and light.
I’m from my grandfather’s old photographs,
faded yet alive, speaking of the lost ones,
memories carved deep in my heart,
reminding me who I am.
