SHORT POEM
GRADUAL EROSION
by R. Gerry Fabian

The parking lot was empty.
It was always empty once
the diner closed.
Now the asphalt
is pitted with weather holes.
Even the skateboarders
have given up on it.
The white parking lines
are faint or gone.
The concrete blocks
are crumbling and broken.
You were a waitress here
and my very first love.
Not much left of that,
either.
