At LIT eZINE we aspire to create a collective of lone voices and make them heard.
Hello people!
Have we already reached the point where the written word is endangered?
I wonder if paper books will soon be listed as an artefact on the brink of extinction. The digital version may be slower to follow, but it might be walking the same path.
Why do I say so? Because (yes, I know, never begin a sentence with because!), the social media that was full of words a few years ago is now filled with visuals and voices. Reels and shorts are everywhere. Nobody seems to have patience for the full version of videos, let alone books. And there was a time when I read one-thousand-page books without a thought other than the ache in my wrist. I am not sure if anyone writes them anymore.
Have you noticed it too, or is it only me?
I am delighted that, under the circumstances, LIT eZINE is managing to grow and become the voice of writers worldwide. Perhaps, along with being a collective of lone voices, it is also doing its bit to save the written word from extinction.
I am happy to do what I can for the craft I love. I have a million plans buzzing in my head that often don’t see the light of day because the day only has so many hours! My team has been a wonderful support, and I can not thank each member enough, especially my editor, Khaya, for putting in so many hours of voluntary work. Without them, you wouldn’t be reading this today.
So writers, keep up your awesome work. You are the backbone of this effort. Readers, keep reading and supporting us; you are our lifeblood. And if any of you would like to put in a few hours, or more than a few hours of voluntary effort to keep this e-mag afloat, you can write to me at litezinemagazine@gmail.com. I would appreciate that very much.
Meanwhile, bear with us as we do our best to keep to our publication schedule and support the written word.
Cheers!
Mona
