SHORT POEM

IT CAME TO PASS
by Ivan A Salazar M

Th tumult faced by humanity

It came to pass,
in the twilight of our days,
when the sun's weary gaze
clung to the horizon,
that humanity stood
at the crossroads of fate,
its veins coursing with the
tumult of centuries.

The winds whispered
secrets of desolation,
as if the very air bore
witness to our unravelling.
From the depths
the tempests of conflict swept,
their fury etching scars
upon the land and its people.

In this decade of reckoning,
we faced our truth,
the climate shifting
like a wounded beast,
its wrath unbridled,
glaciers weeping,
and oceans swallowing
islands whole.

Economic migration,
a desperate exodus,
as families clung to hope
like shipwrecked sailors,
seeking refuge
in foreign lands,
their dreams carried
on tattered wings.

Political storms,
thundering across continents,
leaders rising and falling
like constellations,
their promises fading
into cosmic dust,
while the masses
yearned for stability.

And so, we stood
at the precipice,
our fragile world
gasping for breath,
equality of opportunity,
a distant star,
its light obscured
by the smoke of greed.

But hope lingered,
a stubborn ember,
bridging the gap
of inequality,
not through grand gestures
or symphonies,
but through the quiet
revolutions of the heart.

Democracy,
flawed and fragile,
yet our only beacon
in the gathering darkness,
the ballot box
a talisman against despair,
as we wove our fate
like spiders spinning silk.

And so, let this be a warning
etched in verse,
a plea to the winds
and the stones,
that we may rise above
our animal instincts,
and become stewards
of this wounded Eden.

For it came to pass,
and so it shall be,
that we are both architects
and destroyers,
our choices echoing
through time,
as the sun weeps
for what might have been.
