DELIGHTS OF DARK NIGHTS
by Mona Soorma

Stars exploding around a couple caught in a storm of love
Footsteps on the breeze…
I know it’s you
From the way my heart beats!

The moon casts a mellow glow
Upon creaseless sheets
Beside me,
Your sillage precedes you.
I lie still,
But shivers run across my skin
Unseen,
A warm fingertip undulates
Along my curves,
The thunder of my heart
Is deafening.

My sighs make you smile.
A sharp inhale
Gives away the secrets
Of your storm.
You carry me away
Into the deep dark night,
And we watch stars
Exploding around us in glee,
Your breath forever etched upon mine,
As we are lost
In a timeless symphony.

A lone bird cries.
I bury my head
In the rumpled pillow
Beside me,
The twilight pauses
To admire my knight
With envious eyes,
And sleep claims me…
