SHORT POEM

TWO POINTS
by Barbara A Meier

The clothes line hangs between a scrub oak tree
with rattling dead leaves in the bough
and a madrone tree shedding green bark strips.
Where the wire sags like the heavy baby in my belly,
I adorn it with baby clothes. Like decorations
I hang on the Christmas tree, they will dry stiff
and crisp in the autumn wind. Limbs connect
our bodies, dance on my bladder and remind me
I know not the time or what to expect.
You have straightened the line in pleasant places
my precious child. Gentle and quiet
you are an eternal connection between two points.
