SHORT POEM

SNOW POURED OUT…
by Irina Tall

Snow pouring out of hands

Snow poured out
White and cold
leaving a blue wound on my palm
I realized I could no longer talk about the pain
And left the black book behind me
And then
A small pink envelope arrived
From which something fell
The Scarlet Heart
Filled with love

In my notebook
Green and yellow hearts appeared
I drew them
On my dark caricatures
my little sister
Maybe it's stupid
But I keep the notes as memories

After the biology lesson
Standing next to the blackboard
White like a snowman
I thought I could sing
And mimic the birds
A gray dove flew into the window
And settled in my hand
Tears fell
Pink glitter and a little note
In the shape of a heart

Perhaps this is a mistake
This morning they brought me a letter from far away
Africa with a blue rhino stamp
And inside a postcard
Resembling a heart cut in half
Bore the inscription "I love you"
I couldn’t find the name
But I felt happy.
