At LIT eZINE we aspire to create a collective of lone voices and make them heard.

Hello Readers!

Do you resist change?

I often do.

It isn’t something I do intentionally. Nor is it something I am proud of. To tell you the truth, I am guilty of not trying to break out of this habit either.

Resistance to change comes because we do not like to be pushed out of our comfort zone. I have made resistance my new comfort zone. How does one get out of that rut? Enlightenment eludes me.

Change is a part of life…blah, blah, blah. We have all heard that before. I won’t tell you it is true. Or necessary. Or refreshing. Whatever.

I don’t care for change that is thrust upon me. When it comes from outside, it is always the worst possible option. But when it starts with me, the rules change! That’s when it is exciting and fun, even satisfying.

Does that sound like you too, sometimes? If not, please give me some of your wise ways. And if that sounds a tiny bit like you, join the club!

But seriously, I have gathered a lot of mental data from the zillion instances when I have resisted change just because. My internal computer has made some kind of sense from it and I want to share that insight with you. It is my secret mantra to get over this hurdle. Well, here goes…

Think of the change about to happen. Think so much about it that it isn’t new any more. Think so much about it that you know it inside out. Think so much about it that it becomes the absent lover you yearn for. Reach the point when you want that change to happen and be done with it, so you don’t have to think about it anymore because you’re sick of it and want to move on with your life. Only, that life is a little new, a little different.

Voila! The monster called Change is a friend. Well almost.

I tell myself every day that change isn’t all that difficult. It isn’t all that bad. It is just a monster that my overthinking created so it is best slayed by my overthinking too.

Try my secret mantra. At best it won’t work for you. So what? You would have embraced a new way to go even if for a moment.

And if you are not game for transforming yourself right away, you can always read about the many perspectives on change in this issue. Gather your own insights or just have fun getting immersed in the stories.

Happy Reading!
