SHORT POEM
IDEMELI MY BEST FRIEND
by Njie Martin Vevanje

Idemeli, my friend
Your disappearance was like thunder storms
Which left me contemplating my tomorrow
As I wander through this valley called life.
Idemeli, the daffodil
That grew by night and died by dawn
Your splendor is uplifted
Beyond the metaphysical realm.
Idemeli, the goddess of stories
Who showered her spirit on me
A gladiator of ancient stories
Mother Earth welcomed you with joy.
Idemeli, you giggled about your stories
As I raised my cheek to your glory
But my tears like river Jordan
Won’t stop rolling in your glory.
Idemeli, my jewel, so precious were you
I wish to see your wrinkled face once more
But death so cold as the ice of Buea
Took you away like the wind of the desert
Idemeli, The Icelander of this Iceland called Earth
With courage speaks the Icelandic language with grandeur
You were a friend just like Mojome the heroine
The clouds are dark as I remember the moments of friendship.
