SHORT POEMS
EMOTIONS IN POETRY
by Felicia Renea

Poem 1
How is a poem written? How does one start? How is it a possible craft? How is it a possible art? I am not a poet What is meant when they say You cannot see it, you cannot show it I suppose, a poem shows one’s heart That is why it is beautiful That is why it is art This poem is taken from the book Owl Words: Emotions in poetry Book 2
Poem 2
Escape into the mind of an artist Go into the deep depths of their soul Do not close your eyes Step inside the interior walls The mind is wild Imagination runs wild Do not scream or beg to leave You chose to look Open your pupils wide Take in every detail You will fall into the abyss A black emptiness Filled with passion and rage An artist’s heart Beautifully heartbroken This poem is taken from the book Owl Words: Emotions in poetry Book 2
Poem 3
Loud is the wind when it kisses the breeze Soft is the fall as leaves detach from a tree Beautiful as the sun when rising on the horizon Passionate as the artist revealing the soul Without it, no one person can ever be fully whole Can only be seen when shown As fragile as a new birthday Something no being can ever truly say We seek it every moment, never finding the meaning Over the edge, never going over, always leaning Hungry for the feeling Like a pirate’s hunger for gold, the treasure is worth stealing Like Hera’s golden fruit, we want a taste As if playing a card game, we hope for the perfect suit What is the world without it? Foolish are those who say it is of no importance Always doubting this Like a lioness protecting her cub, we fight for it We fight for love This poem is taken from the book Owl Words: Emotions in poetry Book 1
